About Us

Stan Sholik is a professional photographer with over 30 years of legal photography experience. He is a member of the Evidence Photographers International Council. As a member, he adheres to the Standards for Evidence Photography published by EPIC.

Stan uses professional photographic equipment from 4x5 inch film cameras to Nikon digital SLRs along with a variety of lenses for each camera. His technical knowledge enables him to take photographs that are "fair and accurate representations", whether they are documentation of an accident site, a close-up of an injury or an extreme macro photo (up to 20X) photo of a product. He maintains a fully equipped 3200 square foot photographic studio in Orange County, CA, but owns portable lighting equipment that allows him to provide studio-quality images on location anywhere in California.

He has also gained a reputation as a writer on both conventional and digital imaging topics with articles in View Camera Magazine, Photo>Electronic Imaging, Rangefinder Magazine, Petersen’s Photographic and Professional Photographer. Self-taught as a photographer, Stan holds a BS degree in Physics from Carnegie Institute of Technology and an MA in English from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA.

Stan is also past president and long-time Board member of the Los Angeles Chapter of ASMP (American Society of Media Photographers). He has been a speaker on copyright issues as well as his macro and digital photography at PhotoWest, as well as colleges, enthusiast organizations and to ASMP and APA (Advertising Photographers of America) chapters.

Stan has written four books for Amherst Media, Macro and Close-up Photography Handbook, The Master Guide to Digital SLR Cameras, Photographer’s Filter Handbook and Digital Photographer’s Filter Handbook. He is currently working on a book with the working title Evidence Photographer’s Handbook. His website is www.StanSholik.com.
